The beauty of Altea
Because I live so close to the old town of Altea, I often go there. Altea is also the most beautiful town on the Costa Blanca with its picturesque, small, white streets in the old center. These streets eventually all lead to the church with the blue dome, the Parroquia De Nuestra Señora Del Consuelo. Earlier I wrote about the old center of Altea. But because Altea is so special, I like to dedicate a blog post to this town. See http://www.christelinspanje.com/en/altea/visiting-altea-for-a-day/ Especially in the month of may it is wonderful to walk through these streets now that the flower boxes are filled with the most beautiful flowers. Altea is also known for its art and fashion; here you will find the “Ibiza style”. Finally, you will find a restaurant regularly in all those streets. From the old center you’ll have a magnificent view on the sea. Altea is therefore really a must see.
Art and fashion
When you walk in the old center in Calle San Miguel (or Carrer Sant Miguel in Valencian) you will see all kinds of small fashion boutiques and small studios and art galleries. They are really small shops with unique items of clothing and art objects that you will find less quickly elsewhere. Enthusiasts of the “Ibiza style” will enjoy themselves here. You also have jewelry shops. The exterior of all these shops and studios are beautiful to see. Even if you decide not to buy anything, only the atmosphere of this street makes you find a little Ibiza on the Mainland of Spain. But there is not only room for art and fashion in Altea. In streets such as Calle San Miguel you will also find restaurants. Another street where you will also find art and fashion is the Carrer (or Calle) Major. There are slightly more restaurants in this street, including the Oustau restaurant, which has been awarded a Michelin star. All in all, enough reasons to go here and enjoy.
